Geese barreled through Atlanta last week on their sold out Getting Killed Tour. Coming straight off the heels of a successful release cycle for their new album, the band came in hot performing one of the lengthiest sets of their tour thus far and the fans were ready, already knowing the words to every new song.
This show in Atlanta was different from any of the rest on this tour as this date was being live streamed. This prompted one of Geese's longest sets of this tour yet, throwing in a plethora of songs from Getting Killed and their last album 3D Country, including the final track from that record, "St. Elmo," a song they haven't played much at all on this run. The band also added "Domoto" to the encore, making the usual one or two song punch at the end of their set, a three-song finishing move: "Domoto;" "4D Country;" "Trinidad."
The last song they played before the epic three-song conclusion was "Long Island City Here I Come." The escalating percussion throughout the song, optimistic longing from Cameron Winter and the sudden wave-crash ending left all wanting to hear just a littttle bit more before saying goodbye.
If you glanced at the setlist here (courtesy of the fan who uploaded it setlist.fm), you may have noticed one song that's noticeable missing --- "Cobra." And I'm not even a little upset about it. With how well their set flowed between every song, I didn't even notice until after I left that one of their new fan-favorite tracks from Getting Killed was missing from the night's show.
In a recent interview with Zane Lowe, the band was talking about how they like to experiment with their set and stretch out certain songs like "Husbands" and "Au Pay du Cocaine," opting to keep themselves and their fans on their toes, even if it makes it a little tough to sing-along sometimes. "It's fun when the section you think is coming, doesn't," Max Bassin said in that interview. These uncompromising traits are what make Geese one of today's most exciting rock bands.
Geese in Atlanta last week will without a doubt, go down as one of the most iconic nights of the Getting Killed Tour, and we're so happy to have been able to cover this moment in time and can't wait to see more Geese coverage as they trail on through the rest of their tour and beyond.
