Billie Marten has long been praised for the vulnerability and honesty she brings to her songwriting, and the same can be said of the way she performs. Her stripped-back set at Terminal West—just her voice and guitar—drew the audience in, each song pulling them closer into her world.

Though entirely acoustic, the performance never once felt lacking. The warm clarity of Marten’s voice, paired with her intricate guitar work, gave each song a spellbinding fullness. Familiar favorites were gently reimagined, and the audience savored every moment; leaving the room feeling not only connected to Marten, but to one another.

“What’s Atlanta known for?” Marten asked during a brief pause. An eager audience member called back, “It’s the city where Billie Marten played!” After a performance as intimate and affecting as this, it’s hard to imagine anyone in the room would disagree.
