Succeeding 2025’s, Happy Birthday, Finn Wolfhard’s latest record Fire From The Hip is a gentle, worthy follow up to the debut. Produced independently with collaborators: Clay Frankel (of the band Twin Peaks), Caiden Lake James and Colin Croom, this album dips its symbolic toes in country indie-rock, twinkling with bits of steel guitar and indie-pop artist angst.

Shortly after the announcement of his new album Fire From The Hip, in the spring, Finn Wolfhard announced the dates for ‘The Common Side Effects Tour’ set for the fall and summer. This tour featured stops at the biggest music festivals and the most grandiose theaters across North America, including a night at Atlanta’s Variety Playhouse.

Finn Wolfhard’s return to Atlanta last week on ‘The Common Side Effects Tour’ was one of the most special nights of this run, as the Stranger Things star considers Atlanta his second home, said by him himself at the show. To make this night of tour at Variety Playhouse especially unique, Finn brought out Gep Repasky (of the band Lunar Vacation) to duet “Trail” from his new album, which she recorded vocals for.

The touring band accompanying Finn on tour is straight up The Slaps from Chicago (but maybe now sort of Atlanta based?!). The Slaps often open for Finn as well, but for this tour Finn recruited Malcy aka Malcom Craig, drummer for the Aubreys. He was made to warm up the audience with his outlandish ramblings and later is welcomed back on stage for a performance of "What I Eat" by the Aubreys, a band Finn Wolfhard was once a part of.

Finn Wolfhard performed the new album in its entirety mixed with some fan-favorites from the debut such as "Choose the latter" and my personal favorite song of his "Objection!". The show concluded with a cover of Wreckless Eric’s “Whole Wide World” featuring Gep and Maggie Geeslin (also of the band Lunar Vacation) harmonizing with the whole bunch. Everyone played their part on this night: the guests were all dressed in their colonial attire, smiling ear to ear which isn't common when dressed as such, the special appearences from members of Lunar Vacation making this night in particle stand out, and Finn Wolfhard bringing it home, putting on a performance indie music fans can get behind.

'Fire From The Hip' was released on July 10th, 2026.
