Wednesday went off on the sold-out-in-every-city Bleeds tour this month kicking off in Knoxville then Atlanta and so on last weekend before their upcoming double duty at Coachella in April and soon finishing off this leg in Vancouver. We are very appreciative to have been able to attend and cover the show in Atlanta at Variety Playhouse last week and it was immediately clear after just the first song that Karly Hartzman is having the time of her life.

The stage, littered with furbies and furbie adjacent things, the acclaimed Bleeds album cover draped in the background and Karly's bejeweled-with-trinkets guitar were all perfect touches to set the mood for Hartzman and the band's sold-out performance.
Wednesday played just about every song off the new album Bleeds along with a heap of songs from their last album Rat Saw God as well as the title track from the underrated Twin Plagues and to the southern crowds delight a cover of "She's Actin Single (I'm Drinking Double)" by Gary Stewart that you can find on 2022's Mowing the Leaves Instead of Piling 'em Up.

You knew Karly was having a blast because she was constantly laughing and giggling between songs and maybe even during them. At one moment during "Bull Believer" the crowd started to open a pit too early "Ya'll are going to be doing that for a while" Karly said, so she juked them out by suddenly strumming her guitar super hard before slowing back down when the crowd rushed into the circle exclaiming that she got them! and then laughed some more. I couldn't help but have the largest grin I've had in a while for most of the set myself.
Though MJ Lenderman is not by her side on this tour, this is no doubt Hartzman at her very best, having the time of her life.
